In this day and age, new technologies are popping up everywhere. It is difficult to keep track of every cool thing that comes out and in the end there are very few that stay in our lives permanently.
This made me think about the technology advances that have really impacted my life in a good way and made life easier for me.
Here’s my list.
I am one of those people that has no sense of direction. Back before GPS devices were available I remember getting lost at least once whenever I had to drive to a location that I hadn’t been to before. I wasn’t the best at reading maps and I hated driving at night to unfamiliar places because street signs were obviously harder to read in the dark.
I bought my first GPS in 2008 for just over $300 and it was one of the best things I ever bought. It changed my life and I was no longer stressed out when I had to drive to an unfamiliar location.
I was reluctant at first to sign up for online banking for security reasons. I eventually signed up around 2007 which was when I started exploring buying and selling on eBay. This was the motivator as I needed an easy way to check when buyers had deposited money into my account.
Once I signed up for online banking I realised what I had been missing out on. It was so simple to use and definitely helped me keep an eye on my money and spending habits on a regular basis.
Dishwashers have definitely helped me save at least 1 hour every day which otherwise would have been spent washing dishes. I don’t use mine every day as I don’t have a full load, so instead I lightly rinse the dishes and stack it in the dishwasher and run it every second day. I love my dishwasher and it has been a big time saver for me over the years and I also find that my dishes are a lot cleaner.
I can honestly say that the Kindle has changed my life for the better. I was one of those people that hardly read books and it wasn’t until last year that I started reading books on a regular basis. The kindle played a huge part in this as it helped me access the books I wanted to read instantly and it is also small and lightweight so I can carry it around with me everywhere.
